My Mega Metagross list inspired by current Greninja and Mega Sceptile/Blaziken lists. Aegislash solves Metagross' problem of dealing low damage unless ramped and makes Kartana and Metang both dangerous attackers. If energy feels like an issue I reccommend replacing Kartana with Wynaut and/or a copycat with a second Wally. I like it as is for the consistency and Metal Core Barrier can allow Kartana to survive an extra turn.

I think we’re playing metagross wrong. Instead of trying to get as much metal energy on him as we can to swing for big numbers I think it’s better to get him in the active ASAP and just attack for 120-140. If you go second then you can get metagross in the active and swinging for 120 on your second turn. After that you’re doing progressively more damage each turn for as many as 4 or 5 turns before he gets KO’d. Performs well against hoopa and vespiqueen and holds its own against lucario.

A Mega Metagross ex deck with itself as the only Pokémon focused on using the Metal types tool cards. The strategy of the deck lies in keeping the Pokémon alive using Metal Core Barrier in the early turns and healing them using Ice Pop and Lillie. Heavy Helmet is there for the later turns after the Barriers are spent; Steel Apron is for special conditions. Kid's Room searches the tools. Note: Testing with Adaman is needed due to it being a proactive card. Ice Pop and Lillie are reactive.
